NJFF Seatrout battle 2023 Senior

Rules (NJFF Seatrout battle 2023 Senior)

     •

    Purpose:

    -        The competition is organized by Norway's Hunting and Fishing Association in connection with NJFF's major investment, Sea trout kingdom, which aims to improve the sea trout's living conditions.

    -        The competition will contribute to the visibility of the sea trout's value as a sport fish, as well as put the spotlight on the challenges the sea trout face both in the sea and in our vulnerable streams around the entire Oslofjord.

    -        The competition is otherwise an important part of Norway's Hunting and Fishing Association's work to promote sport fishing as a generally accessible, future-oriented and healthy activity that strengthens public health and the focus on nature and the environment.

    §1 General rules

    1.      The duration of the competition is from 1 September to 30 September 2022. Fish can be entered throughout this period.

    2.      The fishing area is limited to the Oslofjord from Halden in the east to Portør in the west. Fish caught outside this area will not be approved.

    3.      Everyone should familiarize themselves with conservation areas and local fishing regulations before fishing starts.

    4.      Fishing time:

     -        Fishing can be practiced around the clock.

       •  During the competition, there is competition in two classes, with the following entry fee:

    -        Junior: up to and including 20 years.
    Registration fee: SEK 50

    -        Adult: from and including 21 years.
    Registration fee: SEK 150

    6.      The registration fee goes unreservedly to funds for the restoration of sea trout streams in the Oslofjord. The money will be distributed to one of Norway's Hunting and Fishing Association local associations in the catchment area of the Sjøørretriket. The jury decides which association will be the recipient of these funds after the competition.

       •  All persons must fish on their own, you are not allowed to register fish caught by other persons under your own name. Children under the age of 10 can get help from parents/companions to throw out the line, and handle the fish after catching. The fish must otherwise be caught and swept in by the entrant regardless of age.

    8.      Premiere:

    -        There will be a prize for the best (see §2, point 1) in each class after the following distribution: First, second and third place.

    -        The biggest fish in each class will also be awarded.

       •  It will be possible to sign up and register during the entire competition period, but we recommend everyone to sign up before September 1.

       •  An approved life vest or floatation garment is required for all participants who will be fishing in a boat.

         •  A vest or flotation device can be taken off when the boat is at rest, but a shell is used when the boat is in motion.

    §2 Registration of catch

       •  Only the sea trout applies in the competition. It is the sum of the 3 longest registered sea trout for each person in each class that is the basis for the final result.

       •  The sea trout must be at least 35 cm to be considered in the competition. There is also a competition for the biggest fish (the competition's longest sea trout) as an individual sub-competition.

       •  The catch must be documented by taking a picture of the fish on its right side lying on an optional measuring board/measuring tape. The measuring board/measuring tape must lie flat. The fish's nose/snout should touch the edge at the 0-cm point on the measuring board/tape. The tail fin should lie straight and be carefully pinched in to show the "longest length" of the fish. Catch is measured in whole cm. The photo must clearly show the length of the fish and the participant number written on the target board, or as a note next to it.

       •  Measuring board/measuring tape can be of any brand/make, but tally and target must be clearly visible in the picture. Inches do not apply, only centimeters.

       •  When using a ruler or measuring tape, it is recommended to use an unhooking mat as a substrate or another suitable substrate that does not harm the fish, for example wet grass, rubber netting, etc.

       •  Catches must be documented through the app Fishy Live, which you can download via either Google Play or App Store. Remember to download this app before the competition. Use the eight-digit code that you received via email after paying registration when you installed the app.

       •  It is mandatory to have at least one picture of the fish on the measuring board/measuring tape. Posing picture is optional, but desirable. If you want to register the fish in the «biggest fish competition», your measuring board + posing picture is mandatory.

       •  Registration opens on August 8, and is open until September 31 at 20:00. After 20:00 it will no longer be possible to register fish.

       •  Catches that you wish to register must be registered continuously. That is, as soon as the fish is caught, it must be documented and registered via the Fishy Live App.

       •  It is not permitted to store fish temporarily in live-wells, keepnets or similar cf. Section 37, subsection 6 of the Salmon and Inland Fisheries Act.

       •  Fish can be kept in nets for the necessary seconds it takes to prepare for documentation.

    -        NB it is not allowed to keep the fish in the net while fishing.

       •  Catch records will be reviewed by jury. The jury is free to adjust the recorded length and possibly reject the reported catch.

     §3 Rules for fishing

       •  You are only allowed to fish with one rod per participant at a time.

       •  You are only allowed to practice so-called spin fishing, worm fishing, dorging and fly fishing.

       •  Sea trout below the minimum size: 35 cm shell is put back.

       •  Sea trout larger than 55 cm are recommended to be returned. The sea trout population in the Oslo Fjord is under pressure, and larger spawning fish are important to ensure sustainable sport fishing.

       •  When restocking, consideration for the fish must come first. The handling of the fish must be gentle, and air exposure must be kept to a minimum. Keep the fish fun and careful in the water until it is ready to go.
