Unofficial World Trolling Championships - Säffle Trophy 10–11 April 2026

Reserve day: April 12.

Organizer: Säffle Trolling Club.

Location: Start & finish Säffle town.

Registration opens on 1/12 at 18:00 and is done via FISHY.nu. The deadline for registration is 15/3.

Registration fee: 1500: - (Refund of 1000: - if the competition is cancelled, the rest goes to smolt).

No late registration

Timetable & Logistics

Captain's meeting: 06:30–06:50 at the HQ First Royal Hotel terrace (Map is attached)

Transportation to start: Approximately 3 nautical miles from Säffle to Duse Udde.

Start & Finish: Duse Udde (Map is attached).

Friday 08:00–17:00 via launch boat (VHF communication).

Saturday 08:00-16:00 via launch boat (VHF communication).

Boat inspection: 2 inspections per 30 boats. (information can be found under rules).

A referee boat will be available for random checks on the lake.

Judges: 2 participants + 3 from the competition management and 1 person referee boat.

Your start envelope with competition information can be picked up at First Royal Hotell, enter your start number. There is a list of start numbers in the lobby of the hotel). NOTE! Do this before launching as stickers must be attached to the boat according to instructions and there you will also see your berth. For those of you arriving by sea, contact the Harbour Manager before you take a berth. Don't forget to pick up your start envelope!

Prices & Rules

Biggest salmon/trout (Day 1+2): SEK 50,000.

Total winnings (Day 1 + 2):

1st place: 50,000 SEK

2nd place: 20,000 SEK

3rd place: 10,000 SEK

Cash prizes, donated by sponsors.

4th-8th place (sponsored products).

Salmon/Trout closest to 5 kg 5000:- valid on both days (sponsorship prize donated by Team Bertan and Beason boats).

Any profit tax is paid by the team.

Number of participants: 150 + boats.

Trophy and Hiking Prize (Presented by Sillerud Carwing)

Fish Handling & Weighing

Fish are left at the designated location with a starting tag attached to the bag.

When the fish is submitted, it is transported by trailer to the weigh-in, which takes place on the terrace of the First Royal Hotel in front of competitors and visitors.

The weigh-in starts immediately and the competitors do not have to be present if they do not want to, however, the competition tag must be hung on the board no later than 6:30 PM where the day's weight is signed and the catch report is submitted.

The fish is measured, the tail fin is cut and weighed. The weight is written on the bag and placed in starting groups. The appeal regarding the weight must be made no later than 10 minutes after the weigh-in has been completed to the competition management/judge. The largest fish will be checked by the judge at the weigh-in. A fee of 1500 SEK will be charged for a protest regarding the weight.

A cleaning cart with x number of stations with water, lights and waste bags will be located near the terrace. Freezing facilities are also available.

Those who want to donate their fish to charity should speak to the people responsible who will be on site at the cleaning truck after weighing has been completed.

On Saturday, a fish auction will be held where the surplus will go to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation 50% Smolt Release 50%.

Infrastructure & Facilities

Port officials will be available on site or by phone for questions. (Map is attached).

Electricity is available on the piers for a fee, contact the port manager.

Toilets will be available in the port areas. (Map is attached).

There is a marine gas station in the harbor area (petrol and diesel). (Map is attached).

Parking is available adjacent to the port areas, both for trailers and other vehicles. (Map is attached.)

Media

FishEco will provide media coverage of the event with various reports and interviews on social media. The following is planned: live broadcast of the captain's meeting, the start, shorter live broadcasts from several boats, submission of fish, weigh-in and interviews, etc.

Other media such as TV and newspapers will conduct reports and interviews before, during and after the competition.

Day/Evening Activities & Exhibition

Friday evening: Raffle (donated prizes from sponsors) HQ First Royal Hotel.

Saturday: Lectures are planned, children's activities in fishing and outdoor activities, tips walk, fish pond and flea market, etc. in the area around HQ First Royal Hotel.

Fish auction: The fish from Friday's fishing will be auctioned off to the public, with 50% going to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation and 50% to Smolt Stocking (donation of the fish is voluntary).

Saturday evening: World Cup banquet with raffle (donated prizes from sponsors) and entertainment, venue HQ First Royal Hotel.

Exhibitors: Fishing companies and sponsors will be on site from Friday and Saturday on the terrace at HQ First Royal Hotel.
