The Fishy app and admin system are developed every month and are today perhaps Europe's most developed system for all types of sport fishing competitions. During 2025, a number of features have been added and several other previous features have been developed and refined.
– Hello and thank you for using Fishy for your competitions, we would like to tell you that Fishy as a whole is constantly being developed, new and or better functions are being added all the time. A little extra interesting are the new functions for trolling competitions, see bottom.
Over the past few months, we’ve introduced several new features and improvements that will make competitors, judges, and organizers happier than ever. Below is a rundown of the most important new features – what they do, why they exist, and what difference they make in practice.
Species hunting
Fishy now fully supports a new competition format for species hunting. This means you can award different points for different species, or score based on how many different species a team catches.
This allows for more dynamic and varied competitions where skill in catching different species is rewarded, not just size or weight. Administrators can easily adjust scoring tables and species directly in the system.
Offline support – now even better
Fishy has had offline support for a long time, but now the feature has been further improved.
The app automatically buffers all coverage loss reports and sends them as soon as the device regains connectivity. It saves the exact time the report was created, so everything stays in the race timeline.
This is especially important in areas with weak or no mobile coverage – and we dare say that Fishy is now the market leader in offline management for fishing tournaments.
Automatic approval
“Auto approve” is a feature that allows catch reports to be approved automatically without the need for a judge to monitor in real time.
After the competition, the judge or organizer can review the images in peace and quiet. In addition, other competitors can report concerns or remarks – but not the public.
This creates a smooth balance between control and efficiency, perfect for competitions with many participants.
Improved administrative interface
The admin page has received a comprehensive update! The interface is now faster, clearer and offers more features, reports and statistical tools. It has become much easier to analyze competitions, follow participant activity and manage large amounts of data in a clear way.
The aim is to give the organizer full control – without it feeling technically complicated.
Catch Report Browser (Report Browser)
A new, visual tool for quickly browsing and filtering reports.
You can see the images in large format, switch between teams, dates and status, and review details directly. The focus is on image review – perfect for referees who want to ensure that rules are followed.
The tool provides a much smoother workflow during assessment and administration.
Support for multiple currencies and VAT rates
Fishy now handles sales and registrations in multiple currencies, such as SEK and EUR.
It is especially useful for international competitions. The system automatically adjusts the correct VAT depending on the country and clearly shows who is the seller and organizer on receipts.
The aim is to simplify administration and create transparency in the payment flow.
Competition classes
When registering, participants can now choose a class – for example, junior, senior or elite.
Each class has its own results list, which is displayed in parallel with the overall table.
This makes it easy to arrange mixed competitions where everyone can participate but still compete on the right terms, and where the results are clearly displayed for each category.
Faster and more flexible store
The store where participants buy competition tickets has become significantly faster and has new features.
Among other things, you can now recommend related products when purchasing and manage campaigns.
This creates a smoother shopping experience and makes it easier to market competitions and accessories.
Discount codes and free starts
Organizers can now create their own discount codes directly in the admin. A code can provide a percentage discount, a fixed deduction or even a free start for selected teams.
It makes it easy to reward loyal participants, sponsors or competitors in multiple events, and facilitates special campaigns and collaborations.
Photo tags
A function that assigns each team a unique photo tag number, which should be written on the image when reporting.
The system can randomly generate and distribute these automatically at the beginning of the competition, via SMS, email and they are also clearly displayed in the app.
This simplifies administration and makes it easier to ensure that photos are authentic and taken for the correct competition.
Cloning of competitions
Administrators can now clone existing competitions themselves.
This means that you can create a new competition based on a previous one – with all the settings, rules and structure – but with new dates, times and any adjustments.
It saves a lot of time during recurring competitions.
Clear tiebreak mechanisms
Fishy now has four different tiebreak options, allowing you to choose exactly how a tie should be settled.
This makes the rules clear from the start and eliminates misunderstandings about who is ahead in the event of a tie.
Log in to results lists
The system now logs all changes to the results list during the competition.
The administrator can go back to a specific point in time at any time and see exactly what the score looked like at that time – a valuable tool for review, streaming and statistics.
Support for trolling competitions
Fishy now has full support for trolling competitions, where reporting is done afterwards.
Instead of continuous reporting, the organizer can quickly and easily record all their results in a structured table after the competition is over. This makes the system useful even for trolling competitions where internet connection or direct registration is not possible or desirable.
Image management
Administrators and organizers can now more easily upload and manage images directly in admin.
This makes it easy to post competition images, logos or presentation images without having to go through external tools.
Summary…
Fishyhas grown over the year into a complete, scalable system for fishing competitions – regardless of size, location or format.
Each new feature is created with a clear purpose: to make competitions easier to manage, more fun to follow, and safer to administer.
PS, Do you need a referee? We now have several people with extensive experience with the referee tool who can help when needed.
