Jimmy Eriksson wins Swedish Pike Open 2020!

A fantastic final in the Swedish Pike Open! Sweden's hardest pike fishing competition! As it should be! A morning of difficult fishing, that's nothing to brag about! Before the lunch break, only seven fish had been caught by the six finalists. It was below zero during the night and the water level had dropped half a meter compared to the day before! But, a final for Sweden's most skilled pike angler should not be easy! For lunch we had three with equal results. Magnus Ranberg, Jimmy Eriksson and Patrik Lundberg had fished together with two fish each. Close behind came Niklas Andersson with one fish and Nicklas Hallnor and Jonatan Alexandersson zero.

After lunch it turned around. The first half hour yielded a total of eleven fish and the pulse of the competition rose at record speed. Suddenly the fish were active, followers were hooking and landing fish every other time. At 1400 there was radio silence. Here Jimmy had tightened his grip on the competition with nine fish, followed by Magnus six fish, Jonatan and Patrik two fish each and Niklas and Nicklas each with a fish.

The period after radio silence was extremely exciting. The entire Karlskrona pike stock was suddenly active, which doesn't mean that everyone was fishing, but the activity was a little crazy! In shallow water there were lots of fish that followed the men's lures, cut and pulled but were difficult to hook. However, it went better for some than for others!

At 1600 we were able to state that we were able to score an unofficial Swedish champion in pike fishing, Jimmy Eriksson with a total of thirteen fish! Jimmy has already shown before that he knows his pike fishing by qualifying for the Pike Fight 2019 and this year in SPO taking third place in the qualifier with a total of 592 cm and a top fish of 133 cm!

In second place came Magnus Ranberg with nine fish, winner of the qualifier with a crazy 604 cm shows once again that he is one of Sweden's most skilled pike fishermen, long-standing finalist in the Pike Fight and winner of it in 2019!

In third place came Jonatan Alexandersson with eight fish, Jonatan is a debutant in SPO and qualified as fifth place with a fine 577 cm! A guy we can count on in the future!

In fourth place we find Patrik Lundberg with three fish, Patrik qualified as fourth place with 578 cm. A Pike fighting veteran who can take home the whole row any year, keep an eye on him in the future!

In fifth place Nicklas Hallnor, with two fish, a guy who needs no further introduction. A legend with several victories in previous Pike Fight Finals! Nicklas qualified for the final with a second place with a slightly crazy 597 cm.

In sixth place came Niklas Andersson with a fish. Niklas is a debutant and was drawn among the next fifteen best placed after the top five. Niklas fished a fine 549 cm in the qualifier. A guy who is surely looking for revenge in 2021! Ps, Niklas was extremely unlucky with his fish, many followers and chop but too many "post out"!

We thank our fantastic sponsors Atlantica, BIOS, Abu Garcia, Raymarine and not least Camp Dragsö Sportfishing and David Berg who provided boats and accommodation. During the day we were guided by Daniel Wickman, Ivan Swarts and Willy Björk!

The gentlemen did an outstanding job and under difficult conditions! Thanks! Your knowledge was invaluable!
