Only trolling on the public waters of Lake Vänern during the entire competition period and in Mariestadsfjärden and Östersundet during the period May 26 - August 14 (exceptions according to §16 of Act 1950:596).

Competition time 2026-05-26 (08:00) -- 2026-10-03 (19:00). The results will be "darkened" from 2026-09-13 so we get some excitement at the end....

The registration fee must be paid no later than the calendar day before the first registration. Of the registration fee of 300 SEK, 200 SEK goes to smolt (the rest goes to Fishy.nu for the app)!

One login per team captain, unlimited number of fellow anglers. The team captain must always be on the boat when fishing, it does not matter who in the boat has trolled the fish in question, trolling is a team effort! You can of course add the names of your "regular" teammates when registering, the posing pictures will be more fun then. You can also add a participant whom you name "no name".

Scoring 6 fish: The total length of the team's 3 longest trout + 3 longest pike-perch (i.e. a total of 6 fish) determines the competition.

Minimum dimensions (trout): Minimum dimensions for finned/farmed trout are 62 cm with "unclipped" tail fin and closed mouth, the fish must lie straight on the measuring board. Wild/non-finned trout are protected and therefore may not be reported.

Minimum dimensions (zander): Minimum dimensions for zander are 55 cm with an "unclamped" tail fin and closed mouth, the fish must lie straight on the measuring board.

Scoring, each fish: The length of each fish is rounded down to the nearest whole cm. Both species give 1 point per cm.

For the species winner, if two or more teams have the same length of their longest fish in a species, the team that registered their fish first wins.

Reporting: All reporting is done in the app "Fishy Live", reporting should be done as soon as the fish is caught and out on the lake. The length of three pike perch + three trout counts. You can "upgrade" in the respective species when you have caught a longer fish.

Each team captain is responsible for logging in after fishing and making sure reports are sent correctly.

NOTE - make sure you have the latest version of the app!!! - NOTE

In the app (at least) two pictures must be submitted (per fish). The fish must be fed and reported out on the lake.

The measuring board should be equipped with a folding rule that rests against the "stop", the entire folding rule should be visible on the measurement image.

1, Fish against measuring board (measuring board not provided) where you can clearly see the entire length of the fish. The measuring board should be flat and have a ”stop”. The fish’s snout should be against the ”stop” with its mouth closed. The fish should be lying with its head to the left and its belly down, it should be possible to see that the adipose fin, on trout, is cut in the picture. The fish should lie straight on the measuring board.

As "measurement decals" vary, the measuring board should be supplemented with a folding rule, the entire folding rule should be visible in the picture, and the folding rule should rest against the "stop".

All fish should lie straight on the measuring board with their mouth closed and their tail fin "not pinched".

Trout must be killed before measurement, if a spawning colored fish is caught it is ok to return it.

Pikeperch may be released again, so it may therefore be "held down" against the measuring board, but the pikeperch's mouth must also be closed and the tail fin must not be pinched.

Regarding "buddy fishing": If the captain of team #1 is out trolling with the captain of team #2 in team #2's boat, each fish caught can only be registered in one of the teams. For example, if a large trout of 85cm and a large walleye of 92cm are caught, both of these fish can either be registered on team #1, or on team #2. Alternatively, the trout is registered on team #1 and the walleye on team #2 or vice versa. Exactly how you register the catch when "buddy fishing" is up to you, but MAXIMUM ONE REGISTRATION PER FISH CAUGHT!

Prize distribution: Announced on the competition's social media. Don't expect a big prize table, Rio-Fredda got a "feeling" of a boring day at work and started this competition without checking with sponsors etc. The plan is that there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as prizes for the largest fish in each species. We don't know exactly what it will be today.

Exclusion: Competitors who violate the competition rules or applicable fishing and shipping regulations will be excluded from the competition. The competition management reserves the right to inspect participating boats for safety, gear and catch reasons and may refuse participation in the competition.

Other regulations: Trout reported in the app must be killed, this is so that "catch and release" of salmonids is carried out as quickly and gently as possible. Both measuring and photographing against a measuring board and taking a posing photo of the catcher and fish is not to be considered as quick and gentle. (NB - spawning colored trout may be returned)

Pikeperch can be released, but be careful not to subject a pikeperch to too much stress if you are going to release it. Pikeperch is an excellent food fish, so why not take the opportunity to enjoy the pikeperch on the dinner table if you catch a nice food fish!

Bait limit: 10 baits per boat.

The competition area is the entire Vänern on public water during the entire competition period and in Mariestadsfjärden and Östersundet during the period 26 May - 14 August (exception ebl §16 of Act 1950:596). Please note any special rules in nature parks, such as Djurö and the total ban in the conservation area outside Gullspångsälven. The only approved fishing method is trolling.

Clarification regarding trolling vs. float trolling

Float trolling is an approved method provided that:

1, The bait fish is dead.

2, The boat must be powered by a motor (electric motor or combustion engine), the boat must not be stationary as this is a trolling competition, not an angling competition.

It doesn't matter if a dead baitfish is in a bait head where the line is attached to a paravan/planerboard line clip and is being pulled slowly behind a boat or if the dead baitfish is attached to a hook rig where the line is attached to a float and is being pulled slowly behind a boat.

NOTE! Planerboards must be equipped with flags, Ghost screens and similar may be used without flags but with caution. Floats may also be used without flags but with caution.

The rules may be adjusted during the competition period if the need arises.
